Mattawamkeag River

The Mattawamkeag River is a river in Maine. From the confluence of its East Branch and West Branch in Haynesville, about 10 miles west of the Canada – United States border, the river runs 50.6 miles south and west to its mouth on the Penobscot River in Mattawamkeag.

Mattanawcook Academy

Mattanawcook Academy is a public high school located in Lincoln, Maine that was founded in 1847 as Lincoln High School. The name was changed to Mattanawcook Academy in 1850. On July 1, 1968 the towns of Chester, Lincoln, and Mattawamkeag joined for mutual benefit and formed Regional School Unit No. 67 which now comprises Mattanawcook Academy, Mattanawcook Junior High School, and Ella P. Burr Elementary School.
