Wye River (Maryland)

The Wye River is a 16.3-mile-long tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It was named by the Lloyd family, Edward Lloyd (delegate), and Edward Lloyd (Governor of Maryland), after the River Wye in Wales. It falls within Queen Anne's County and Talbot County, and joins the Miles River near its mouth to the Eastern Bay.

WRNR-FM is a commercial radio station located in Grasonville, Maryland, broadcasting mainly to the Annapolis / Anne Arundel County area on 103.1 FM. WRNR-FM airs an adult album alternative music format. WRNR-FM has its studios in Annapolis on Admiral Cochrane Drive and they transmit from Grasonville, on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Aspen Institute Wye River Conference Centers

The Aspen Institute Wye River Conference Centers consists of 1,100 acres acres overlooking the Wye River on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The site, parts of which were once known as the Wye River Plantation, was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Houghton, Jr. in 1979. William Paca, a signee of the Declaration of Independence and third governor of Maryland, maintained his family estate here and a monument to his memory stands near the Houghton House.

Wye Oak

The Wye Oak was the honorary state tree of Maryland, and the largest white oak tree in the United States. Located in the town of Wye Mills, Talbot County, Maryland, the Wye Oak was believed to be over 460 years old at the time of its destruction during a severe thunderstorm on June 6, 2002, and measured 31 feet 10 inches (970 cm) in circumference of the trunk at diameter at breast height, 96 feet (29 m) high, with a crown spread of 119 feet (36 m).
