Wood Island (MBTA station)

Wood Island is a grade-level, open-air rapid transit bus and train station on the MBTA Blue Line and is on the part of the Blue Line that uses overhead lines instead of third rail. Located on Bennington Street in the neighborhood of East Boston, the station's primary patrons are residents of the Day Square area. The station also serves as a bus transfer point for several local routes.

Suffolk Downs

Suffolk Downs is a thoroughbred race track in East Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The track opened in 1935 after being built by Joseph A. Tomasello for a cost of $2 million. A number of famous horses have since raced at this track including Seabiscuit, Whirlaway, Funny Cide, and Cigar. The Massachusetts Handicap or MassCap is an annual event held at the track, but has not been held since 2008. The track is a 1-mile dirt oval with a seven-furlong inner turf track.

East Boston

East Boston is a neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts with approximately 40,000 residents. The neighborhood was created by connecting several islands using landfill, which was annexed by Boston in 1836. It is separated from the city proper by Boston Harbor and bordered by Winthrop, Revere, and the Chelsea Creek. Directly west of East Boston across Boston Harbor is the North End and Boston's Financial District.
