Big Rapids is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 10,601 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Mecosta County. The city is located within Big Rapids Township, but is politically independent.

Ferris State University

Ferris State University (FSU, Ferris) is an American public university with its main campus in Big Rapids, Michigan. Founded in 1884 as the Big Rapids Industrial School by Woodbridge Nathan Ferris, an educator from Tioga County, New York, who later served as governor of the State of Michigan and finally in the US Senate where he remained until his death in 1928. The school was noteworthy at its time for accepting female students beginning with its first graduating class.

Roben-Hood Airport is a public airport located two miles (3 km) northwest of the central business district of Big Rapids, a city in Mecosta County, Michigan, United States. It is owned by the City of Big Rapids. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Roben-Hood Airport is assigned RQB by the FAA and WBR by the IATA.

Townline Lake

Townline Lake is a 73-acre lake located in Mecosta County near the City of Big Rapids, Michigan. It is located in Colfax Township and Big Rapids Township. It has a maximum depth of 50 feet . Grass Lake (Private-approximately 6 acres) is located in the NW section of Townline Lake and has an outlet which feeds Townline Lake. The outlet from Townline feeds ultimately into Ryan Creek. Fish species include bass, bluegill, northern pike, and crappie.

Ewigleben Arena

The Robert L. Ewigleben Ice Arena (pronounced A-VUH-glabe-in) is a 2,493-seat hockey arena in Big Rapids, Michigan. It is home to the Ferris State University Bulldogs ice hockey team of the CCHA. The building is attached the FSU Sports Complex, which also includes Wink Arena, a volleyball court, a studio ice rink, offices, concessions and meeting space. The Ice Arena also hosts the local high school and junior hockey programs. The arena is named for Dr. Robert L.
