Willow Run Airport

Willow Run Airport is an airport located in Van Buren Charter Township and in Ypsilanti Township, near Ypsilanti, Michigan, that serves freight, corporate, and general aviation clients. No commercial passenger services are available at the airport, due to its close proximity to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. Opened in 1942, Willow Run Airport was synonymous with the American industrial effort that contributed so much to the Allied victory in World War II.

Willow Run Transmission

Willow Run Transmission (also called Ypsilanti Transmission Operations, YTO) is a General Motors factory in Ypsilanti Township, Michigan. Opened in 1953, it produced Hydra-Matic automatic transmissions for use by General Motors and others. This factory was originally the Ford Willow Run facility, which built B-24 Liberator bombers during World War II. It was designed by Architect Albert Kahn. From 1947 to 1953 it built Kaiser and Frazer cars for the Kaiser-Frazer Corp.

Willow Run

The Willow Run manufacturing plant, located between Ypsilanti and Belleville, Michigan, was constructed during World War II by Ford Motor Company for the mass production of the B-24 Liberator military aircraft. The date on the dedication plaque was June 16, 1941. After the war, ownership of the assembly plant passed to Kaiser Motors and then to Ford rival General Motors, which owned and operated part of the facility as Willow Run Transmission. In 2011, A.E.

Ford ACT

Ford's ACT, short for Automatically Controlled Transportation or Activity Center Transit, was a people mover system developed during the 1970s. One interesting feature of the ACT is that it allowed bi-directional travel on a single rail—cars passed each other by switching onto short bypass lanes on the track, distributed where space allowed.

Willow Run Assembly

Willow Run Assembly was a General Motors automobile factory near Ypsilanti, Michigan, United States. It is located at 2625 Tyler Rd. Production of automobiles began in 1959 with the Chevrolet Corvair and ended in 1992 with the B-bodies. Willow Run also built the Chevrolet Nova (1962-1979) and X-bodies (1980-1985).
