Sawyer Air Force Base is a decommissioned U.S. Air Force base in Marquette County, Michigan, southeast of the city of Marquette. The base, near the center of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, operated for nearly forty years and closed in 1995. The county airport, Sawyer International, now occupies a portion of the base and has scheduled airline flights and some general aviation activity.

Forsyth Township, Michigan

Forsyth Township is a civil township of Marquette County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,824 at the 2000 census. Forsyth Township is one of the few townships in the Upper Peninsula that has its own police department. Forsyth Township is larger than the City of Detroit in land area. The township was named for O. F. Forsyth, general agent for a mining firm in the area.

Gwinn is an unincorporated community in Marquette County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is in Forsyth Township at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:46|16|52|N|87|26|27|W| | |name= }} on M-35 near the forks of the east and middle branches of the Escanaba River. Gwinn is a census-designated place (CDP) for statistical purposes, and the CDP includes the nearby communities of Austin to the west and New Swanzy to the east.

Marquette Mountain

Marquette Mountain is a winter sports area for skiing and snow boarding, located a few miles south of Marquette, Michigan, the major city in the state's Upper Peninsula. In the summer, Marquette Mountain offers activities such as mountain biking, and volleyball. The base area's parking lot is adjacent to highway M-553. Popular from the start, the ski area opened in late 1957.
