Lake Gogebic
Lake Gogebic is the largest lake of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is located within the 1 million acre (4,000 km²) Ottawa National Forest. Lake Gogebic State Park is located along its western shore. It is in the far western end of the Upper Peninsula, close to the Wisconsin Border, and in parts of two counties, Gogebic County and Ontonagon County. The lake is also in two time zones, central and eastern.

Matchwood Township, Michigan
Matchwood Township is a civil township of Ontonagon County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 115 at the 2000 census. The tiny unincorporated community of Matchwood is at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:46|33|23|N|89|23|47|W|region:US-MI_type:city_scale:30000_source:GNIS | |name=Matchwood }} on M-28 about 6 miles west of Ewen and 9 miles east of Bergland. It was named for the Diamond Match Company, which owned most of the pine forest it the area.

Gogebic County, Michigan
Gogebic County is the westernmost county in the Upper peninsula in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the population was 16,427. The county seat is Bessemer. The county was set off and organized in 1867. It had been part of Ontonagon County. The name is said to be derived from the Ojibwe word "bic" which most references interpret as "rock. " Alternatively, it is claimed to be derived from Lake Agogebic, later changed to Lake Gogebic. See List of Michigan county name etymologies.

White Pine is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:46|45|14|N|89|35|03|W| | |name= }} in Carp Lake Township between Bergland, Michigan and Silver City, Michigan, and east of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The Copper Range Company operated a copper mine in White Pine.
