It is a census-designated place (CDP) for statistical purposes, but has no official status as an incorporated municipality. The population was 4,455 at the 2000 census. The area included in the CDP includes the entire shoreline of Wolf Lake and extends south of the lake to include an area south of M-46/E. Apple Ave.

WMKG-CA
WMKG-CA is a low-powered television station on channel 38 for Muskegon, Michigan. Its studio is located on Airline Road in the suburb Norton Shores, Michigan near the junction of I-96 and US 31. Owned by Kelley Enterprises, it is affiliated with My Family TV. WMKG-CA was founded by Bud Kelley and his family in 1989 as W40AK. It first went on the air on April 1, 1990. It originally broadcast on channel 40. The call letters were changed to WMKG-LP in 1995. It moved to channel 38 in 2004.
