Lyon Lake

Lyon Lake is a small, natural lake in Fredonia Township, Calhoun County, Michigan. The lake is approximately ⁄4 mi long and ⁄4 mi wide (13 acres). The lake is part of a small cluster of lakes 6 mi south of the historic village of Marshall, Michigan. The other lakes are Fish Lake, Pine Lake and Long Lake. Lyon Lake is surrounded by predominately modest residential homes that are the primary residences of the homeowners.

Brooks Field (Michigan)

Brooks Field is a city-owned, public-use airport located one nautical mile (1.85 km) south of the central business district of Marshall, a city in Calhoun County, Michigan, United States. Brooks Field was officially dedicated in 1931, although the first plane landed there on November 9, 1929. Although many U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned RMY by the FAA and no designation from the IATA.

Calhoun County, Michigan

Calhoun County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. The county seat is Marshall. As of the 2010 census, the population was 136,146. The entire county is co-terminous with the Battle Creek Metropolitan Statistical Area. Calhoun County was established on October 19, 1829 and named after John C. Calhoun, who was at the time Vice President under Andrew Jackson, making it one of Michigan's Cabinet counties. County government was first organized March 6, 1833.

Enbridge oil spill

On the evening of Sunday, July 25 2010, at about 5:58 p.m. EDT, a 40-foot long pipe segment in Line 6B, located approximately 0.6 of a miles downstream of the Marshall, Michigan pump station, ruptured. The rupture in the Enbridge Energy pipeline caused a 877,000 US gallons spill of heavy crude oil originating from Canada (Alberta and Saskatchewan) into Talmadge Creek in Calhoun County, Michigan, which flows into the Kalamazoo River.
