"Greater Grand Forks" (officially the Grand Forks, ND-MN Metropolitan Statistical Area) is the name used by some people to designate the twin cities of Grand Forks, North Dakota and East Grand Forks, Minnesota as well as the surrounding area. The two cities lie directly across from each other on both sides of the Red River of the North. Two counties make up the metropolitan area – Grand Forks County in North Dakota and Polk County in Minnesota.

Greater Grand Forks Greenway
The Greater Grand Forks Greenway is a huge greenway bordering the Red River and Red Lake River in the twin cities of Grand Forks, North Dakota and East Grand Forks, Minnesota. At 2,200 acres (9 km²), the Greenway is more than twice the size of New York City's Central Park. One of the most prominent features of the Greenway is the extensive, 20-mile system of bike paths which are used by bikers, walkers, joggers, and rollerbladers.

Energy and Environmental Research Center
The Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC) in Grand Forks, North Dakota, United States is a research, development, demonstration, and commercialization facility for energy and environment technologies development. The center is a nonprofit division of the University of North Dakota. The center was founded in 1951 as the Robertson Lignite Research Laboratory, a federal facility under the United States Bureau of Mines.

Ralph Engelstad Arena (old)
Ralph Engelstad Arena was a 6,067-seat multi-purpose arena located on the University of North Dakota (UND) campus in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It was home to the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux hockey team, and was the host of the 1983 Frozen Four tournament. It was originally named the Winter Sports Center, but was renamed in 1988 to honor alumnus Ralph Engelstad. The arena closed in 2001 and was replaced with the new $100 million Ralph Engelstad Arena on the north end of campus.
