Winston County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. In 2010, the population was 19,198. Its county seat is Louisville. Winston County is named for Louis Winston (1784–1824), a colonel in the militia, a prominent lawyer, and a judge of the Mississippi Supreme Court. The county is the site of Nanih Waiya, an ancient mound built in the Woodland period, about 1 CE-300 CE. Since the 17th century, it has been venerated by the historic Choctaw people of this territory.

Once known as "The Dairy Capital of the South," Oktoc is now home to several defunct dairy farms including Oak Ayr and Mactoc Farms, the largest two in the community. Oktoc has the oldest community club in the state and has not missed one single meeting since its beginning in 1927.

Oktibbeha County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of 2010, the population was 47,671. Its county seat is Starkville. Oktibbeha is a Native American word meaning either bloody water (because of a battle fought on the banks) or possibly icy creek. Indian artifacts over 2000 years old have been found near the Indian mounds adjacent to Indian Mound Campground, just east of Starkville. The Starkville Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Oktibbeha County.
