Biloxi (Amtrak station)

The Biloxi Station is an unstaffed Amtrak train station in Biloxi, Mississippi. There is no station building--there is only a covered platform. Service has been suspended since Hurricane Katrina struck Biloxi in 2005. The station is across the street from the Biloxi Transit Center, which serves Coast Transit Authority and Greyhound buses.

Beau Rivage was rebuilt and re-opened in 2006, a year after Hurricane Katrina. The Beau Rivage hotel is the tallest building in Mississippi. The term 'Beau Rivage' is French for 'beautiful shore'. The Beau Rivage, with 1,740 rooms, opened in March 1999. At that time of its opening, it was the largest hotel/casino in the United States outside of Nevada.

Biloxi, Mississippi

Biloxi is a city in Harrison County, Mississippi. The 2010 census recorded the population as 44,054. Along with the adjoining city of Gulfport, Biloxi is a county seat of Harrison County. The city is part of the Gulfport-Biloxi metropolitan area and the Gulfport-Biloxi-Pascagoula, Mississippi Combined Statistical Area. Pre-Katrina, Biloxi was the third largest city in Mississippi behind Jackson and Gulfport; but with its population losses following that storm, it was passed by Hattiesburg.
