Avalon, Mississippi

Avalon is an unincorporated community in Carroll County, Mississippi. Avalon is part of the Greenwood, Mississippi micropolitan area. It is known as the home of the bluesman Mississippi John Hurt. As of 2006, Avalon was nothing but a spot in the road on Mississippi Highway 7, about 12 miles north of Greenwood with a small green highway sign depicting Avalon, and a commemorative highway marker placed by Carroll County recognizing Hurt as a great bluesman.

Teoc, Mississippi

Teoc is an unincorporated community in Carroll County, Mississippi and is part of the Greenwood, Mississippi micropolitan area approximately 7 miles northeast of Greenwood on Teoc Road along Teoc Creek.. Yalobusha River

The Yalobusha River is a river, 165 miles long, in north-central Mississippi in the United States. It is a principal tributary of the Yazoo River, via which it is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River. The name "Yalobusha" comes from the Choctaw word yalooboshi, meaning "little tadpole", from yalooba, "tadpole", and -ushi, "diminutive". The United States Board on Geographic Names settled on the river's name in 1892.
