Mastodon State Historic Site

Mastodon State Historic Site is an archaeological and paleontological site in Imperial, Missouri, containing the Kimmswick Bone Bed. Bones of mastodons and other now-extinct animals were first found here in the early 19th century. The area gained fame as one of the most extensive Pleistocene ice age deposits in the country and attracted scientific interest worldwide.

Windsor High School (Imperial, Missouri)

Windsor High School is a public high school in Imperial, Missouri that is part of the Windsor School District. Windsor High School was named after a sunken Civil War gun-boat that was docked in the Mississippi River in Kimmswick, MO. The "gun-boat" has never been recorded in military or navel records and could have been used as a decoy to ward off Confederate raiding parties. This ship was sunk in the late 19th century during an ice storm.
