Poplar Bluff, Missouri

Poplar Bluff is a city in Butler County located in Southeast Missouri in the United States. It is the county seat of Butler County and is known as "The Gateway to the Ozarks" among other names. The population was 17,023 at the 2010 census. It is the second largest city in Missouri's 8th Congressional District after Cape Girardeau. The Poplar Bluff Micropolitan Statistical Area consists of all of Butler County. The city is at the crossroads of U.S. Highway 60 and U.S. Highway 67.

Black River Coliseum

Black River Coliseum is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. It was built in 1999. It hosts various local concerts and sporting events for the area. In March 2008, it was briefly used to house hundreds of area residents who had to be evacuated due to historic flood levels in the region in the same fashion as New Orleans refugees from Hurricane Katrina sought shelter in the Louisiana Superdome and Astrodome.

Butler County, Missouri

Butler County is a county located in the southeast Ozark Foothills Region in Southeast Missouri in the United States. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the county's population was 42,794. The largest city and county seat is Poplar Bluff. Butler County was officially organized from Wayne County on February 27, 1849, and is named after former U.S. Representative William O. Butler, who was also an unsuccessful candidate for Vice President of the United States.
