East Leavenworth, Missouri

East Leavenworth is an unincorporated community in Platte County, Missouri. It is located on Route 45 about three miles east of Leavenworth, Kansas. It formerly had a post office, but that has now closed, and mail now comes from Platte City. Leo J. Dowling was appointed by Postmaster General Farley to be the only postmaster of East Leavenworth, MO.

Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF) is a state prison operated by the Kansas Department of Corrections. LCF is located in Lansing, Kansas, in Leavenworth County. LCF, along with the Federal Bureau of Prison's United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth, the United States Army Corrections Command's United States Disciplinary Barracks, and Midwest Joint Regional Correctional Facility in Fort Leavenworth are the four major prisons that give the Leavenworth area its reputation as a corrections center.

Lansing, Kansas

Lansing is a city situated along the Missouri River in the eastern part of Leavenworth County, located in northeast Kansas, in the Central United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 11,265. It is the second most populous city of Leavenworth County and is a part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The Lansing Correctional Facility, which includes the state's main maximum-security prison, is located in Lansing.

University of Saint Mary

The University of Saint Mary (USM) is a private liberal arts university in Leavenworth, Kansas, United States. It is sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, who established it as Saint Mary College. Though it was originally a school for women, the school is now coeducational. The mother house of the order is also on the premises. At one time the nuns' property had its own post office, Xavier, Kansas, the name honoring St. Francis Xavier.
