Plew, Missouri
Plew is a small unincorporated community in western Lawrence County, Missouri, United States. Plew (pronounced "Ploo") is located on former U.S. Route 66, now Route 96. The town dates back to the early 1890s, but the origin of the name is unknown (plew is a slang term for a beaver pelt, so the name may derive from the rich history of trapping and fur trading in Missouri). Occasionally it was known as "Plewtite" which may have been a family name.

Local lore states that the name of the town would change from Chambersville to Dudenville depending on whether the Republican or Democrat store owner in the community had the post office.
