Westby, Montana

Westby is a town in Sheridan County, Montana, United States. The population was 168 at the 2010 census. Westby was founded in 1910 as a North Dakota city in what is today Divide County. Danish settlers came up with the name by combining the word west, which noted the town's location in extreme western North Dakota, with the word by, Danish for town.

Comertown, Montana

Comertown is an unincorporated community in northeastern Sheridan County, Montana, United States. Founded in 1913, it was established as a station stop on the Soo Line Railroad branch line to Whitetail. Williston Basin

The Williston Basin is a large intracratonic sedimentary basin in eastern Montana, western North Dakota, South Dakota, and southern Saskatchewan, that is known for its rich deposits of petroleum and potash. The basin is a geologic structural basin but not a topographic depression; it is transected by the Missouri River. The oval-shaped depression extends approximately 475 miles north-south and 300 miles east-west.
