Pony, Montana
Pony is an unincorporated community in northeastern Madison County, Montana, United States on the eastern edge of the Tobacco Root Mountains. In the late nineteenth century, Pony was a prosperous gold-mining community with at least 5,000 residents. A number of historic buildings from Pony's boom era remain in the old town today. Former Montana Lieutenant Gov. Karl Ohs owned a ranch in Pony, where he died in 2007.

The Golden Sunlight mine is an open pit gold mine in Jefferson County, Montana, approximately 25 mi east of Butte, Montana. The mine sits at an elevation of 6,000 ft on the Bull Mountain range. The mine has been in operation since 1975, and in 2008, the mine produced 120,000 ounces of gold. The mine's proprietors estimate reserves at approximately 540,000 oz . The mine processes gold-ore at nearby facilities in Whitehall. In total, mine operations employ approximately 150 people.
