Carlin Tunnel

The Carlin Tunnel is a collective name for a set of four tunnel bores east of Carlin, in Elko County, Nevada, USA. Each of the four bores was constructed for a different purpose and at a different time. Currently, two of the bores carry Interstate 80 through a canyon wall to bypass bends in the Humboldt River. The other two bores carry Union Pacific Railroad's Overland Route and Central Corridor through the canyon.

South Fork Humboldt River

The South Fork of the Humboldt River has its origins in a fan-shaped group of canyons draining the western slopes of the Ruby Mountains in northeastern Nevada. These headwaters run from Ruby Dome south to King Peak, and include Echo, Box, Kleckner, North Furlong, Long, Segunda, Drown, and Rattlesnake Canyons.

Carlin, Nevada

Carlin is a city located near the western border of Elko County in northeast Nevada, 23 miles west of the city of Elko. It is part of the Elko Micropolitan Statistical Area. Carlin sits along Interstate 80 at an elevation of approximately 4,900 feet . As of the 2000 census, its population was 2,161. The city was named for Civil War general William Passmore Carlin. Its slogan is "Where The Train Stops... And the Gold Rush Begins".

Elko Regional Airport

Elko Regional Airport, formerly known as Elko Municipal Airport, is a city-owned public-use airport located one mile (1.6 km) west of the central business district of Elko, a city in Elko County, Nevada, United States. This airport serves much of northeastern Nevada. The airport was named J.C. Harris Field in 1975, in honor of Jess C. Harris, a sheriff from Elko who was known as "The Flying Sheriff".
