Bear Island (Lake Winnipesaukee)

Bear Island is the second largest island in Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, USA. In the summer it is accessible only by boat or helicopter because it is not connected to the mainland via a bridge. In the winter it can be reached by snowmobile. According to the Lake Winnipesaukee Historical Society, the island got its name when a few hunters along with a few members of the Penacook tribe were sent to survey the island. However they encountered a few bears, which they decided to hunt.

YMCA Camp Lawrence

YMCA Camp Lawrence is a residential summer camp for boys located on Bear Island in Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire. It is owned and operated by the Merrimack Valley YMCA, based in Lawrence, Massachusetts. It is the only island-based boys camp in New Hampshire, and one of only several in the country. The Merrimack Valley YMCA also operates Camp Nokomis, a residential summer camp for girls, also located on Bear Island.

Governors Island (Lake Winnipesaukee)

Inter-Lakes High School

Inter-Lakes High School is a high school in Meredith, New Hampshire. The school serves the towns of Meredith, Center Harbor, and Sandwich. The school competes in NHIAA Class M, and has teams in cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, soccer, basketball, tennis, baseball, softball and girls' volleyball, as well as a math team that competes in the Small School Division and were state champions in 2008. Football was introduced in 2006. New in 2008, the varsity program will start in Division 6.

Weirs Beach, New Hampshire

Weirs Beach is a village within the city of Laconia in Belknap County, New Hampshire, United States. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Winnipesaukee. The cruise ship Mount Washington terminates there. It is a popular destination of bikers during Motorcycle Week every June. Weirs Beach, or "The Weirs" as it is referred to by locals, is named for a wide, sandy, public beach on Lake Winnipesaukee.
