The pond is located on the Little River, a tributary of the Lamprey River and part of the larger Piscataqua River watershed.

Bow Lake Village is a small village in the town of Strafford, New Hampshire, located at the outlet of Bow Lake. The village is home to the Bow Lake Grange, Isinglass Country Store, Sheila's Country Deli (formerly the Blue Loon), the old Waldron Store (owned by the Strafford Historical Society) and the Bow Lake Inn.
