Harrington Township, New Jersey
Harrington Township was a township that existed in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States, from 1775 until 1916. It was named after the Harring family, early settlers to the region. Harrington Township was formed by Royal Charter on June 22, 1775, and was created from the northern portions of both New Barbadoes Township and Hackensack Township. The new township stretched from the Hudson River on the east to the Saddle River in the west, and north to the New York border.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 5,711, reflecting a decline of 40 (-0.7%) from the 5,751 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 893 (+18.4%) from the 4,858 counted in the 1990 Census. Norwood was formed as a borough by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 14, 1905, from portions of Harrington Township.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 4,664, reflecting a decrease of 76 (-1.6%) from the 4,740 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 117 (+2.5%) from the 4,623 counted in the 1990 Census. Harrington Park was formed on March 29, 1904, from portions of Harrington Township and Washington Township, and parts of the borough of Closter.

Northvale was formed on March 15, 1916, from the remaining portions of Harrington Township, based on the results of a referendum held on April 4, 1916.

Dwars Kill
The Dwars Kill (also known as Dwarskill or Dwarskill Creek) is a tributary of the Hackensack River in Bergen County, New Jersey, in the United States. The name is taken from the Dutch language and can be translated as Cross Creek, which may have been inspired by its generally westerly direction as it traverses today's towns of Alpine, Closter and Norwood to the south-flowing main river.
