Wanaque River
The Wanaque River is a tributary of the Pequannock River in Passaic County in northern New Jersey in the United States. Once known as the Long Pond River, the sources of the Wanaque River are Greenwood Lake, once known as Long Pond and the watershed known as Sterling Forest. Both Greenwood Lake and Sterling Forest straddle the border of the states of New Jersey and New York. Downstream, the construction of dams at Monks and Wanaque created the Monksville and Wanaque reservoirs, respectively.

Its county seat is Paterson. It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. Passaic County was created on February 7, 1837, from portions of both Bergen County and Essex County.

Ramapo Mountain State Forest
Ramapo Mountain State Forest is a 4,200 acre (17 km²) state forest in Bergen and Passaic Counties in New Jersey. The park is operated and maintained by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry. The park offers hiking, hunting, canoeing, fishing, cross-country skiing, horseback riding and mountain biking. Several trails lead to views of the New York City skyline.
