San Pedro Parks Wilderness

The San Pedro Parks Wilderness is located in southern Rio Arriba County in northern New Mexico and part of the Santa Fe National Forest. It is 41,132 acres (64 sq miles) in size. Elevations range from 8,300 feet in the southwestern corner to 10,592 feet at San Pedro Peaks near the center of the wilderness.

New Mexico State Road 126

New Mexico State Road 126 is a state highway in New Mexico, United States of America. Its total length is approximately 40 miles . New Mexico Route 126's northern terminus is in the small town of Cuba, at U.S. Route 550. The route passes through the Nacimiento Mountains and Jemez Mountains, then descends past Fenton Lake to the small, unincorporated community of La Cueva, where it ends at New Mexico State Road 4. The highway is a part of the Jemez Mountain Trail National Scenic Byway.

Nacimiento Mountains

The Sierra Nacimiento (official name), or Nacimiento Mountains, are a mountain range in the northwestern part of the US state of New Mexico. They are just west of the more prominent Jemez Mountains near the town of Cuba, and are separated from them by the Río Guadalupe and the Río de Las Vacas.

Robotic Optical Transient Search Experiment

The Robotic Optical Transient Search Experiment (ROTSE) is an multi-telescope experiment designed to observe the optical afterglow of gamma-ray bursts. The experiment currently consists of four telescopes located in Australia, Namibia, Turkey, and at the McDonald Observatory near Fort Davis, Texas. The Namibian telescope is located at the High Energy Stereoscopic System site in the Gamsberg mountains south-west of the capital Windhoek.

Fenton Hill Observatory

Fenton Hill Observatory is an astronomical research facility operated by Los Alamos National Laboratory in the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico, about 35 miles west of Los Alamos. The site is home to several astronomical experiments and observatories spanning 30 acres . It is also known as Technical Area 57 (TA-57) and is located at an elevation of 8,700 feet in a region shielded from light pollution.
