Bayside, Queens

Bayside is a largely upper middle class neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. When analyzing comparable detached homes throughout the United States, CNN Money ranked Bayside as one of the most expensive housing markets nationally. Despite its large housing stock of free-standing homes, it nationally ranks high to very high in population density. These homes give the neighborhood a similar feel to other wealthy Queens neighborhoods such as Douglaston and Little Neck.

Holy Cross High School (Flushing)

Holy Cross High School is an all-boys Roman Catholic high school in Flushing, in the New York City borough of Queens. Founded in 1955, the school was chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Located within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, it is sponsored by the Brothers of Holy Cross. There is a 98% college placement rate.

Broadway (LIRR station)

Broadway is a station in the Flushing neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens, on the Port Washington Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. The station is part of CityTicket. The station is east of an overpass at the intersection of 162nd Street and Northern Boulevard and is 11.1 miles (17.9 km) from Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan. A renovation in 2008 added wheelchair ramps.

Sylvania Electric Products explosion

On the morning of July 2, 1956, an explosion involving scrap thorium occurred at the Sylvania Electric Products' Metallurgical Laboratory in Bayside, New York. Nine people were injured, some severely. One employee died on August 6, 1956. There were two explosions. Sylvania was experimenting with large-scale production of thorium metal from thorium dioxide.
