WENI (AM)

WENI is a radio station in the Elmira-Corning market of New York state. It broadcasts at 1000 watts day and night on 1450 kHz from studios in South Corning, NY. It is a talk radio station that airs Elmira Pioneers baseball. It was founded as WCLI by the Corning Leader newspaper in 1950 as the first AM station licensed to Corning and the fourth station in the market. It joined FM station WKNP, which had signed on in 1947 and was Corning's first station.

WCBA is a radio station in the Elmira-Corning market of New York state. It broadcasts at 1000 watts day and 37 watts night on 1350 kHz from studios in South Corning, NY. It is a sports talk station. The station signed on as Corning's second AM station prior to 1967, according to the obituary for John T. Horn, the longtime disc jockey known on the air as Jack Shane.

The Corning train wreck (also known as the Gibson train wreck) was a railway accident that occurred at 5.21 a.m. on July 4, 1912 on the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad at East Corning freight station in Gibson three miles east of Corning in New York State leaving 39 dead and 88 injured
