Montauk Monster

The "Montauk Monster" was a raccoon carcass that washed ashore on a beach near the business district of Montauk, New York in July 2008. The identity of the creature, and the veracity of stories surrounding it, have been the subject of controversy and speculation. It is unknown what happened to the carcass.

Shadmoor State Park

Shadmoor State Park is a 99-acre state park located in Suffolk County, New York in the USA. Created in 2000, the park is located in the East Hampton (town), New York on the South Fork of Long Island, east of Montauk village. The park has two concrete World War II observation bunkers used for the New York coastal defenses. It was also part of Camp Wikoff where troops including Theodore Roosevelt were quarantined after the Spanish-American War.

Amsterdam Beach State Park

Amsterdam Beach State Park is a 122-acre New York State Park on the Atlantic Ocean in East Hampton (town), New York just east of Montauk, New York. The park was formally acquired in 2005 and is between Shadmoor State Park and the Andy Warhol Preserve owned by the Nature Conservancy. Its acquisition cost was $16.5 million with East Hampton Town and Suffolk County also contributing. The park is totally undeveloped and there are no plans to develop it.

Theodore Roosevelt County Park

Theodore Roosevelt County Park (now Montauk County Park) is located approximately 3 miles east of Montauk, New York. The park is 1,157 acres in size, running from Montauk Highway north to Block Island Sound and is bordered on the east by Montauk Point State Park. Montauk County Park was created from 1971 to 1986 through a series of land acquisitions by Suffolk County with the help of Hilda Lindley and the Concerned Citizens of Montauk http://www. ccom-montauk.
