The hamlet of Chichester, New York, formerly referred to as Chichesterville, is one of the northernmost communities in the town of Shandaken, New York, being right next to the borderline between Ulster County and Greene County. The hamlet of Chichester, New York, is not to be confused with the city in West Sussex, England. One difference is that unlike the city of Chichester, England, the "i" in Chichester, New York, is pronounced like "eye" instead of a vowel sound such as in the word "chip".

Notch Lake

Notch Lake is an artificial lake in Edgewood, New York, in the Town of Hunter in the Catskill Mountains. It is located near the Stony Clove Notch, and is located near the edge of the Devil's Tombstone Campsite, bordering New York State Route 214. There is also a parking lot near the shore. It is the beginning of the Stony Clove Creek. One thing unusual about it is that it is one of the few places in the Catskills where there is a patch of Boreal Forest growing below 3,000 feet above sea level.

Empire State Railway Museum

The Empire State Railway Museum is a non-profit railroad museum located in the historic Ulster & Delaware Phoenicia Railroad Station, Phoenicia, New York. The station was built in 1899 by the U&D, and is one of the few surviving examples left along the line. In 1985, the station was purchased by ESRM and a local community redevelopment organization. The structure was restored and renovated to serve as the home of the museum.

Stony Clove Notch

Stony Clove Notch is a narrow pass, roughly 2,220 feet (677 m) in elevation located in the Town of Hunter in Greene County, New York, deep in the Catskill Mountains. It is traversed by New York State Route 214, although in the past the Ulster and Delaware Railroad went through it as well. The notch divides Hunter and Plateau mountains.

Phoenicia, New York

Phoenicia is a hamlet in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 309 at the 2010 census. Phoenicia is located in the northeast part of Town of Shandaken, on Route 28. It is the largest community in the town. The village is located on Route 28, right at the junction with Route 214, and is next to Esopus Creek.
