Quaker Hill, New York

Quaker Hill is a hamlet in the town of Pawling in Dutchess County, New York, United States. It is located in the southern portion of the area known as the "Oblong" that was designated by the Treaty of Dover in 1731, and "known from pre-Revolutionary times as Quaker Hill". It is the location of the Oblong Friends Meetinghouse, built in 1764. The community has been studied extensively. It was the subject of a Columbia University political science Ph.D. dissertation completed in 1907.

Appalachian Trail (Metro-North station)

The Appalachian Trail Metro-North Railroad station serves campers and hikers destined for the Appalachian Trail in Dutchess County, New York via the Harlem Line. Trains stop at Appalachian Trail on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays only. It is the only train station along the 2,175 mile length of the trail. It was built by Metro-North Railroad in 1991 for the cost of $10,000.

Pawling (village), New York

Pawling is a village in Dutchess County, New York, USA. The population was 2,347 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area. The John Kane House, a registered historic place is situated in the village. The Village of Pawling is centrally located in the Town of Pawling by the junction of Routes 22 and 55.

Pawling (Metro-North station)

The Pawling Metro-North Railroad station serves the residents of Pawling, New York via the Harlem Line. Trains leave for New York City every two hours, and about every 30 minutes during rush hour. It is 63.7 miles (104 km) from Grand Central Terminal and travel time to Grand Central is approximately one hour, 48 minutes. This station is located in the Zone 8 Metro-North fare zone. It is the southernmost station in Dutchess County on the Harlem Line. The ticket agent/office was closed in 1977.
