Star Lake is a hamlet in the Adirondack Mountains St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The population was 809 at the 2010 census. Star Lake is in the Town of Clifton, but part of the community is in the Town of Fine. The community is located east of a very angular-shaped lake, also called Star Lake.

Benson Mines

Star Lake, New York, a village in the southern St. Lawrence County, is geographically isolated at 60 miles from the nearest city. In the 1950s, the town became home to the largest open pit iron-ore mine in the world. The ore body at Benson Mine was discovered in 1810 by engineers conducting a survey for a new highway from Albany to Ogdensburg. The mine is actually located in the Town of Clifton, just east of the CDP limits of Star Lake.

Oswegatchie is a town in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The population was 4,397 at the 2010 census. The name reportedly means "Black water" in the aboriginal language. It is on the northern border of the county and is adjacent to the city of Ogdensburg.

Newton Falls, New York

Newton Falls is a hamlet of 400 located within Town of Clifton in Saint Lawrence County, New York in the United States. The hamlet is located within the Adirondack Park. The area is known in part for its ZIP code, which is 13666. The hamlet was named for James Newton, who built a sawmill in 1894 which became the Newton Falls Paper Mill; it closed in 2000. It was reopened in 2007 as Newton Falls Fine Paper through the efforts of former mill workers and town residents.
