Moratock Park

Moratock Park is a public park in Danbury, North Carolina that includes the site of Moratock Iron Furnace. Danbury Township, Stokes County, North Carolina

Danbury Township is one of nine townships in Stokes County, North Carolina, United States. The township had a population of 1,229 according to the 2000 census. Geographically, Danbury Township occupies 32.04 square miles in central Stokes County. The only incorporated municipality within Danbury Township is the Town of Danbury, the county seat of Stokes County. However, there are also unincorporated communities located here, including Hartman.

The Dan River Coalfield is a coalfield in Stokes and Rockingham Counties, North Carolina about which, in 1914, USGS geologist Mr. R.W. Stone wrote, "after a thorough and careful examination of the Triassic beds in the Dan River Field the conclusion is reached that there is no reason to expect to find commercially valuable coal beds in this district.
