The Federal Correctional Complex, Butner (FCC Butner) is a United States federal prison complex for male inmates in Butner, North Carolina. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice. FCC Butner is about 45 miles northwest of Raleigh, the state capital. The facility is noted for having Bernie Madoff as one of its inmates, who is convicted for perpetrating the largest ponzi-scheme in history.

Lake Michie
Lake Michie is a reservoir in central North Carolina, within the Neuse River watershed. The lake is located in northern Durham County near the town of Bahama. Fed principally by the Flat River, Lake Michie is the primary reservoir for the city of Durham. The reservoir dam was completed in 1926. In addition to retaining drinking water for the city, the concrete and earthwork dam, built between 1924 and 1926, supplied hydroelectric power to Durham until 1960, when the generators were removed.

The mill and other historic structures are preserved in the West Point on the Eno city park. Catsburg Store
Catsburg Store is located at the junction of Old Oxford Highway and Hamlin Road in Durham County, North Carolina. The Catsburg Store is about halfway between Durham and Butner, and is near historic Stagville. This two-story, hip-roofed, frame structure is a well-preserved box-and-canopy store. Built in the 1920s by Sheriff Eugene G. Belvin, it has a high false front, and a one-story gable-roof supported by large wooden posts.
