Chatham County is a county located in the Piedmont area of the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of 2010, the population was 63,505. Its county seat is Pittsboro. The US Office of Management and Budget also includes Chatham County as a part of the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Combined Statistical Area, which has a population of 1,998,808 as of U.S. Census 2012 Population Estimates.

Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival

The Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival is a music and dance festival that takes place each spring and fall in Silk Hope, North Carolina, near Chapel Hill. The festival takes place on a 75-acre farmstead which is managed by Shakori Hills, Inc. a non-profit organization. The festival has been held twice annually since 2003. It is associated with and modeled after the larger Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival that takes place near Trumansburg, New York each summer.

Bynum is an unincorporated community in northeastern Chatham County, North Carolina, United States on the banks of the Haw River. Bynum is 5 miles north of Pittsboro, North Carolina and 11 miles south of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It is also known as Bynum Mill Village or Bynum Mill Hill. Bynum's most notable building is the Bynum General Store at 950 Bynum Road, Bynum, NC 27228. For many years the store, run by Frank and Louise Harriss, was known as Harris and Farrell General Store.
