Warren County PCB Landfill
Warren County PCB Landfill was a PCB landfill located in Warren County, North Carolina near the community of Afton south of Warrenton. The landfill was created in 1982 by the State of North Carolina as a place to dump contaminated soil as result of an illegal PCB dumping incident. The site, which is about 150 acres, was extremely controversial and led to years of lawsuits.

WARR went on the air in 1970 in Warren County, North Carolina. Transmitter output was 1000 watts at the time. The station was co-founded by Vernon Steed, owner of the Warren Theater. His partner was Jim Mayers, the owner of WSRC located in Durham, North Carolina at the time.

Bute County is a former county located in the state of North Carolina. It was formed in 1764 from the eastern part of Granville County. It was named for John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute, Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1762 to 1763. In 1779 Bute County was divided into Franklin County and Warren County, and ceased to exist.
