It was named in honor of Richard Montgomery, an American Revolutionary War general killed in 1775 while attempting to capture Quebec City, Canada. The county seat is Dayton. Salem Mall
Salem Mall was the first enclosed shopping center in the Dayton, Ohio area. It was located at the intersection of Shiloh Springs Road and Salem Avenue, in the northwest Dayton suburb of Trotwood. The center opened in 1966, and in its early stages had 60 retailers. The original mall was anchored by the Rike's and Sears department stores. There was also a Liberal supermarket, a smaller department store called The Metropolitan, and a multi-screen cinema.

Hara Arena
Hara Arena is a 5,500-seat multi-purpose arena, in Trotwood, Ohio. At one time, it hosted the Dayton Jets basketball team and Dayton Gems, Dayton Blue Hawks, Dayton Owls, Dayton Bombers and Dayton Ice Bandits ice hockey teams and The Marshals indoor football team. Currently, it hosts the Dayton Demonz of the FHL and the Dayton Sharks of the CIFL.
