American Indian Exposition

The American Indian Exposition, held annually during the first full week in August at the Caddo County Fairgrounds in Anadarko, Oklahoma, is one of the oldest and largest intertribal gatherings in the United States. Sponsored by fifteen tribes, representatives from up to fifty other tribes participate in any given year. The Exposition began with the All-Indian Fair first held in 1924.

Indian City USA

The Indian City USA Cultural Center, formerly known as Indian City USA, was an outdoor museum in Anadarko, Oklahoma. According to the tour guides, it is the only authentic reconstruction of American Indian dwellings and way of life in the United States. The construction of the housing units was done under the supervision of the Department of Anthropology from the University of Oklahoma.

Fort Cobb

Fort Cobb was a United State Army post established in what is now Caddo County, Oklahoma in 1859 to protect relocated Native Americans from raids by the Comanche, Kiowa and Cheyenne. The fort was abandoned by Maj. William H. Emory at the beginning of the Civil War and remained abandoned until it was reoccupied in 1868. After establishing Fort Sill the Army abandoned Fort Cobb. Today there is little left of the former military post.
