Hughes County is a county located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. As of 2010, the population was 14,003. This was a decrease of 1.1 percent from 14,154 at the 2000 census. Its county seat is Holdenville. The county was named for W. C. Hughes, an Oklahoma City lawyer who was a member of the Oklahoma Constitutional Convention.

Little River (Canadian River)

The Little River is a tributary of the Canadian River, 90 miles long, in central Oklahoma in the United States. Via the Canadian and Arkansas rivers, it is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River. It rises in Moore in northwestern Cleveland County and flows generally southeastwardly through Pottawatomie, Seminole and Hughes counties. It joins the Canadian River about 5 miles south of Holdenville. In Cleveland County the river is dammed to form Lake Thunderbird.
