Hatbox Field

Hatbox Field is a closed airfield located within city limits, two nautical miles (3.7 km) west of central Muskogee, a city in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. It was opened sometime in the early 1920s and was closed in 2000. It is presently the location of the Love-Hatbox Sports Complex, a large recreation center and waterpark.

Five Civilized Tribes Museum

The Five Civilized Tribes Museum is a museum in Muskogee, Oklahoma that houses the art, history and culture of the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee Creek, and Seminole tribes. Housed in the historic Union Indian Agency building, the museum was opened in 1966. The museum holds an extensive collection of traditional art by artists of the Five Civilized Tribes and has the world’s largest collection of Jerome Tiger originals.

Honor Heights Park

Honor Heights Park (122 acres) is a botanical garden and arboretum located at North Honor Heights Drive, Muskogee, Oklahoma. It is a public park operated by the City of Muskogee. In 1909, the City of Muskogee purchased the original 40 acres of Honor Heights Park for $4,500. Agency Hill was officially named Honor Heights Park in 1919 in honor of the soldiers of World War I. Honor Heights Park is known for its azaleas and hosts the annual Azalea Festival each April.

Muskogee Fire Department

Muskogee Fire Department is the primary fire protection agency in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Consisting of over 100 firefighters and numerous office staff, the department serves a population of over 40,000 people. The department is under the supervision of the Mayor of Muskogee, currently John Tyler Hammons, with operational command assigned to Fire Chief Derek Tatum.

Muskogee Public Schools

The Muskogee Public School district (officially known as Muskogee Independent School District No. 20) is a the primary public school district in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Their mascot is the Rougher. The district is governed by a five member Muskogee Board of Education, with members being elected to serve staggered five year terms. The Board in turn appoints a Superintendent to be the chief administrative officer of the district.
