The station's initial construction permit was granted on December 18, 1987, with the callsign WAYC-FM. The new station broadcast for the first time on February 1, 1988 with a Top 40 format. On September 1, 1994, the station flipped to a country music format as WWCW-FM.

Kinton Knob

Kinton Knob is a peak in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Kinton Knob marks the north end of Wills Mountain where it abruptly ends just southwest of the town of Bedford. The mountain has an array of communication towers on its summit. Limited views are available from the top, especially in the winter season, of Blue Knob to the north and the Allegheny Front to the west.

WAYC (AM)

WAYC is a religious formatted radio station in the Bedford, Pennsylvania, market. The station is owned by John H. Cessna. The station was initially established as WAYC with the Top-40 format broadcast at 1600 kHz. In the early 1990s, all of Bedford's four radio stations fell under the same ownership briefly. WAYC moved to 1310 kHz to take advantage of the better signal while WBFD moved to WAYC's former position on the dial, was sold, and changed format to Religious programming.
