Newport Jazz Festival

The Newport Jazz Festival is a music festival held every summer in Newport, Rhode Island, USA. It was established in 1954 by socialite Elaine Lorillard, who, together with husband Louis Lorillard, financed the festival for many years. The couple hired jazz impresario George Wein to organize the event to help them bring jazz to the resort town. Most of the early festivals were broadcast on Voice Of America radio and many performances were recorded and have been issued by various record labels.

American Sailboat Hall of Fame

The American Sailboat Hall of Fame was established in 1994 by Sail America to recognize ingenuity in designs by American boat builders. The physical display is housed in The Museum of Yachting located in Fort Adams State Park, Newport, Rhode Island, and includes examples of many of the selected boats. Some of the collection is displayed around the country each year at the various Strictly Sail boat shows sponsored by Sail America, and at Sail Expo in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Hammersmith Farm

Hammersmith Farm is a Victorian mansion and surrounding property located in Newport, Rhode Island, United States and was the childhood home of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. The property hosted the wedding reception of Jacqueline and John F. Kennedy. During his presidency, Kennedy spent enough time at Hammersmith Farm that it was referred to as the "Summer White House".

Lime Rock (island)

Lime Rock is an island in Newport Harbor, in Narragansett Bay, in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It was made famous by Ida Lewis, who was the lighthouse keeper of the tower built on it which is now known as Ida Lewis Light.

Goat Island (Rhode Island)

Goat Island is a small island in Narragansett Bay and is part of the city of Newport, Rhode Island, U.S. The island is connected to the Easton's Point neighborhood via a causeway bridge. Goat Island is home to the Newport Harbor Light (1842), The Marina Cafe & Pub, Belle Mer, the Hyatt Regency Newport hotel, and the Goat Island South Condominiums. The island was home to several military forts, the U.S. Naval Torpedo Station, and was the site the attacks on the HMS St John and HMS Liberty.
