Lake Tugalo

Lake Tugalo is a 597-acre reservoir with 18 miles of shoreline located in the northeastern Georgia in Habersham and Rabun counties, but also lies partially in Oconee County, South Carolina. It is the fifth lake in a six-lake series created by hydroelectric dams operated by Georgia Power that follows the original course of the Tallulah River.

Tallulah River

The Tallulah River is a 47.7-mile-long river in Georgia and North Carolina. It begins in Clay County, North Carolina, near Standing Indian Mountain in the Southern Nantahala Wilderness and flows south into Georgia, crossing the state line into Towns County.

Lake Yonah

Lake Yonah is a lake on the Tugaloo River, separating Georgia and South Carolina. The lake is created by the Yonah Dam, which is owned and operated by Georgia Power, and generates 22 megawatts. Lake Yonah is a residential lake with about seventy-two vacation and permanent homes. After the Tugaloo River flows from Yonah through the lower dam, it continues to Lake Hartwell, and joins the Savannah River, which empties into the Atlantic Ocean.

Isaqueena Falls

Isaqueena Falls, located near Walhalla, South Carolina, is a waterfall in the Oconee District of the Sumter National Forest. The falls are named after a Cherokee girl who allegedly leaped from the top of the falls with her lover, an Oconee brave, in an attempt to hide him from the rest of her tribe, which was at war with the Oconee. Isaqueena allegedly then hid him in the recessed area just below the top of the falls. It is very close to Stumphouse Tunnel, another notable local landmark.
