Cypress Gardens (South Carolina)

Cypress Gardens is a 170-acre preserve and gardens located at 3030 Cypress Gardens Road, Moncks Corner, South Carolina, United States. Open daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day; an admission fee is charged. The gardens are managed by Berkeley County. The gardens were previously part of a rice plantation, and contain about 80 acres of blackwater bald cypress/tupelo swamp, the former rice reservoir. Mepkin Abbey

Mepkin Abbey is a Trappist monastery in Berkeley County, South Carolina. The abbey is located near Moncks Corner, at the junction of the two forks of the Cooper River northwest of Charleston. The area has been known as Mepkin for centuries, and was originally the estate of several historic families. The first record of the name was a 1681 grant to the sons of Sir John Coleton, one of the Lords Proprietary of South Carolina.
