Walhalla, South Carolina

Walhalla is a mountain city in Oconee County, South Carolina, United States. It is located 16 miles from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina and is also located in the Appalachian Mountains of South Carolina. The population was 3,801 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Oconee County. The current mayor of Walhalla is Danny Edwards.

Fort Prince George (South Carolina)

Fort Prince George (not to be confused with Prince's Fort, which was in use in 1777 and also in South Carolina) was constructed in 1753 in northwest South Carolina, on the Cherokee Path. It was named for the Prince of Wales, who would later become King George III of the United Kingdom. It was the principal Carolinian trading post among the Cherokee "Lower Towns". The fort was built on the Keowee River, across from the largest "lower town", Keowee.
