Dillon County, South Carolina

Dillon County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. Founded in 1910 from a portion of Marion County, both Dillon County and its county seat, the city of Dillon, were named for prosperous local citizen James W. Dillon (1826-1913), an Irishman who settled there and led a campaign to bring the railroad into the community.

Dillon (Amtrak station)

The Dillon Amtrak station is a train station in Dillon, South Carolina, United States served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. It was originally built by the Florence Railroad in 1893, but only as a freight station. Once the railroad was consolidated into the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in 1898, the passenger station was opened in 1904.
