Deerfield Dam
Deerfield Dam is a dam impounding Castle Creek in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The dam creates Deerfield Reservoir. The earthen dam was originally built by the United States Bureau of Reclamation in 1942-1947, with a height of 171 feet, to store irrigation water for the surrounding Pennington County. Construction was started in July 1942 by the Farm Security Administration, and later continued by the Civilian Conservation Corps under the Works Projects Administration during World War II.

Castle Creek (South Dakota)
Castle Creek is a tributary of Rapid Creek, approximately 14 mi (23 km) long, in western South Dakota in the United States. It rises out of Deerfield Reservoir, in the Black Hills in Pennington County approximately 15 mi (24 km) NNW of Custer. It flows north and east, joining Rapid Creek approximately 4 mi (6.4 km) west of Silver City.

Crazy Horse Memorial
The Crazy Horse Memorial is a mountain monument complex that is under construction on privately held land in the Black Hills, in Custer County, South Dakota. It depicts Crazy Horse, an Oglala Lakota warrior, riding a horse and pointing into the distance. The memorial was commissioned by Henry Standing Bear, a Lakota elder, to be sculpted by Korczak Ziolkowski. It is operated by the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation, a private non-profit organization.
