Cherokee Lake

Cherokee Lake, also known as Cherokee Reservoir, is a reservoir in Tennessee formed by the impoundment of the Holston River behind Cherokee Dam. The reservoir has a surface area of about 28,780 acres, a flood-storage capacity of 749,406 acre feet, and nearly 400 miles of shoreline. In a normal year, the lake water level fluctuates over a range of about 27 feet . Cherokee Dam is a Tennessee Valley Authority dam intended for hydroelectric generation and flood control.

Moore-Murrell Airport is a city-owned public-use airport located four nautical miles (7 km) southwest of the central business district of Morristown, a city in Hamblen County, Tennessee, United States. It was opened in 1953. The manager of the airport was Evelyn Johnson until her death on May 10, 2012. This airport is included in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2009–2013, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.

Battle of Mossy Creek

The Battle of Mossy Creek was a minor battle of the American Civil War, occurring on December 29, 1863, in Jefferson County, Tennessee. Union Brig. Gen. Samuel D. Sturgis, while encamped at Mossy Creek and forward towards Talbott's Station, received a report on the night of December 28, 1863, that a brigade of Confederate cavalry had gone into camp that afternoon near Dandridge south of Mossy Creek.

Cherokee Dam

Cherokee Dam is a hydroelectric dam located on the Holston River in Grainger County and Jefferson County, Tennessee, in the southeastern United States. The dam is operated and maintained by the Tennessee Valley Authority, which built the dam in the early 1940s to help meet urgent demands for energy at the outbreak of World War II. Cherokee Dam is 175 feet high and impounds the 28,780-acre Cherokee Reservoir. It has a generating capacity of 135,200 kilowatts.
