Women's Basketball Hall of Fame

The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame honors men and women who have contributed to the sport of women's basketball. The Hall of Fame opened in 1999 in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. Knoxville is known for having a large women's basketball following as well as being the home of the University of Tennessee's Lady Vols basketball team coached by legendary women's coach Pat Summitt who was part of the first class inducted.

General James White Memorial Civic Auditorium and Coliseum (commonly known as the Knoxville Civic Coliseum) is a multi-purpose events facility in Knoxville, Tennessee, owned and operated by the Knoxville city government. Its components are an auditorium with a maximum seating capacity of 2,500, a multi-purpose arena with a maximum seating capacity of 7,141, an exhibition hall, and a ballroom. It was built in 1961.

Holston River

The Holston River is a major river system of southwestern Virginia and east Tennessee. The three major forks of the Holston (its North, Middle and South Forks) rise in southwestern Virginia and have their confluence near Kingsport, Tennessee. The North Fork flows 138 miles southwest from Sharon Springs in Bland County, Virginia. The Middle Fork flows 56.5 miles from near the western border of Wythe County, Virginia, joining the South Fork in Washington County southeast of Abingdon.

French Broad River

The French Broad River flows 213 miles from near the village of ]]Rosman in Transylvania County, North Carolina, into the state of Tennessee. Its confluence with the Holston River at Knoxville is the beginning of the Tennessee River. The French Broad River was named by white settlers centuries ago because it was one of the two broad rivers in western North Carolina.
