Hartsville Nuclear Plant
The Hartsville Nuclear Plant is a canceled nuclear power plant project located near Hartsville, Tennessee. To be built and operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority, it was to have four General Electric boiling water reactors. Land along the Cumberland River was acquired by TVA in the late 1960s for construction of the plant which was to accommodate the electricity demand for the 1980s. Construction began in 1975.

Cordell Hull Lake
Cordell Hull Lake is a lake in the Cumberland River in north-central Tennessee, about forty miles east of Nashville, in the vicinity of Carthage. It covers approximately 12,000 acres . Cordell Hull Dam impounding the Cumberland River was built by the United States Army Corps of Engineers between May 1963 and November 1973 for navigation, hydroelectric power generation, and recreation.

Carthage, Tennessee
Carthage is a town in Smith County, Tennessee, United States, and is part of the Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,306 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Smith County, and perhaps best known as the hometown of former Vice President Al Gore and his father, Senator Albert Gore, Sr. The younger Gore announced his 1988 and 2000 presidential bids, as well as his 1992 vice-presidential bid, from the steps of the Smith County Courthouse.
