Battle of Blue Springs

The Battle of Blue Springs was a battle of the American Civil War, occurring on October 10, 1863, in Greene County, Tennessee. Maj. Gen. Ambrose E. Burnside, commander of the Department of the Ohio, undertook an expedition into East Tennessee to clear the roads and passes to Virginia, and, if possible, secure the saltworks beyond Abingdon. In October, Confederate Brig. Gen. John S. Williams, with his cavalry force, set out to disrupt Union communications and logistics.

WNPC (AM)

WNPC is a radio station licensed to Newport, Tennessee, USA. The station is currently owned by Bristol Broadcasting Company, Inc. The WGGQ call letters were last assigned to a FM radio station in Waupun Wisconsin that had a top 40 rock format known as "99Q" which broadcast with 2,800 watts on 99.3 FM from 1976 to 1981 and again from May 1984 to July 1990. Its transmitter site was located 1/2 mile north of Alto Wisconsin.
